Bardon Park is a gorgeous shady park situated in Maylands, on the bank of the Swan River. Although it's just a ten-minute drive from Perth's CBD, it has a wonderful laid-back vibe and when you're there it's easy to feel as though you're right out in the country.
Kids love this park! It's a great spot to admire the beauty of the Swan River, and the lovely lake and artificial creek are wonderful for children to dabble in and look for tadpoles. There are also a couple of playground areas for them to burn up some energy.
Bardon Park is also a great destination for a family picnic, with several beautifully-located picnic tables and barbecues.
Bardon Park is easy to get to by both private and public transport. Drive down Guildford Road, and turn into Fourth Avenue in Maylands. Follow this road to the end, and then turn right into East Street. I usually park in the Maylands Yacht Club carpark.
If you're travelling by public transport, catch any of the 42, 43, 48 or 55 buses from the Esplanade Busport in the City, and get off at stop 11325. Cross Guildford Road and continue about 200 metres further until you reach Fourth Avenue. Follow this along for about 300 metres and the park will be on your right-hand side.
